The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently checking out the Fernie 2 Group Hall in Mpuluzi to render companies to the community.
SASSA will be rendering solutions including new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer care enquiries, as well as the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.
In a statement, the agency stated it's alarmed about the higher number of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The intention on the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to some high range of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.
“This is due to the lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there's no totally functional office devoted to service the area each day. The service position created for intervention activities a high influx of probable beneficiaries, that makes it tough for that Workplace to attend to all people who visit a service point.
“In this more info reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise a lot more methods to help the servicing of all clients and boost entry to Social Assistance products and services,” the agency said.
